Hello.

My machine has two itanium processors and 20GB Memory on HP rx6600.

so I set parameters in initSID.ora like below.

sga_max_size : 6144m
log_buffer : 536870912(512m)
db_cache_size : 3172m
shard_pool_size : 1024m
java_pool_size : default
large_pool_size : default

However after startup, oracle show current status like this.

Total System Global Area 6443315568 bytes
Fixed Size 733552 bytes
Variable Size 2835349504 bytes
Database Buffers 3338665984 bytes
Redo Buffers 268566528 bytes

sga_max_size, db_cache_size is same with setting value.
but redo buffer is not matched with seeting value.

I don't know why it happens.. please let me know Confused
My boss stresses me Sad

In 9i, sizing log_buffer more than 3-4M is just a waste of RAM as Oracle will never use more.
